What Makes Your HVAC System More Efficient?

When it comes to achieving an energy-efficient HVAC design, it is vital to understand the working of your unit. An energy-efficient HVAC system is rated with the following scientific terms:

  1.     Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE)

AFUE is a scientific term that refers to the percentage of heat used by a boiler or furnace of the system. The higher this percentage is, the more energy efficient your HVAC unit will be. A system with more than 95% AFUE is considered the best unit that converts most of its fuel into heat.

  1.     Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER)

SEER is the cooling output ratio of an air conditioning system divided by the energy it uses in watt-hours. Modern and reliable air conditioners have a SEER ratio of 13 to 21. The higher this ratio is, the more energy efficient your unit will be.

Tips to Achieve an Energy-Efficient HVAC Design

  •         Upgrade the Outdated Unit

If your HVAC system is over ten years old, upgrade its outdated equipment. You can add side economizers to your unit, replace its compressor, or add new condenser fan controls to make it more energy efficient. Alternatively, you can invest in a whole new system if you plan to live in the same house longer.

  •         Ensure Regular Maintenance

Ensure the regular maintenance of your HVAC unit to make it more energy efficient. Keeping up with routine maintenance will preserve your unit’s optimal condition and functionality. You can hire a professional HVAC contractor, like Diamond Air Design, to inspect and tune up your cooling and heating system.

  •         Change Air Filters

The air filters of your HVAC system need to be replaced within 90 days. So change your unit’s air filters to make it energy efficient.

  •         Install Programmable Thermostat and Controls

Programmable controls and thermostats are also helpful in making your HVAC unit more energy efficient. These systems automate the temperature levels of your unit depending on your needs.

An energy-efficient HVAC system can help make your living spaces more comfortable while saving on high energy bills. You can get help from the pros of Diamond Air Design to make your heating and cooling systems more energy efficient.

I had an American Standard Platinum HVAC System installed. Brandon, Stewart, and Preston did the install work. They were scheduled to start at 8:00 am. Stewart arrived at 7:45 am and immediately went to work. Brandon and Preston arrived at 8:00 am with the new HVAC System. I tried to offer them drinks and something to eat but they were more concerned with completing the job. The crew was absolutely fantastic. They completed the install work in about 7 hours. They never stopped working until the job was completely finished. They did an outstanding job installing the new system. The company even filed my warranty paper work for me. I had to do nothing but sit back at let them do all the work, from the install, warranty registration, and setting up the county inspection. They even provided financing for 0% interest rate for 60 months. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Daimond Air Design for HVAC System Replacement!!!
